Crippling drought. Devastating wildfires. Super-storm Sandy. Climate Change has come home – and the people of the United States and beyond get it. On Sunday, February 17th, the largest climate rally ever is planned for Washington DC with a companion event happening in Los Angeles. Hope to see you there!
February 17th - Washington D.C. and Los Angeles
On Sunday, February 17, 350.org, Hip Hop Caucus, and Sierra Club will lead the largest climate rally in history in Washington D.C. With over 12,000 people already signed up in Washington (http://act.350.org/signup/presidentsday), the number grows by the day!
Can’t make it to D.C.? Make your voice heard and help make certain the president starts his second term with strong climate action by joining in Los Angeles - on the same day as the Washington D.C. rally - for the largest Southern California climate march and rally ever.
~ WHY MARCH ~
On Sunday, February 17th at 1pm 99Rise is joining up with Tar Sands Action Southern California, Sierra Club Beyond Coal Campaign, Food & Water Watch, CodePink, Coalition Against Nukes and over 90 other groups to march in downtown Los Angeles to deliver a message - “Solve the Climate Crisis! Take a Stand Mr. President!” Here are the basics:
Tell Barack Obama it’s time to lead in the fight against climate change, beginning with the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. It is time for a Renewable Energy Future – one that doesn't include dirty and dangerous fuels like Coal, Fracking, Tar Sands and Nuclear.
Oh, and one last thing: WEAR BLACK TO FORM THE KEYSTONE XL PIPELINE!
